News
We would like to use the chance to inform you about the latest news and answer some of the most important and frequent questions.
1. and the winner is...
The jury under the chairman professor Boris Podrecca will meet on 28 June 2000.
They will present the prize to the winners on 29 June 2000. Everybody is invited
to come to the presentation (and maybe collect a prize), to look at the other
designs and to meet other students and the "arbeitskreis campus" - the
organizer of the competition.
2. Is the registration until 30 March 2000
manditory?
No. It gives us and the jury an estimate of how many people will participate and
lets us plan accordingly. All the entries that have arrived at the University of
Stuttgart by 5 June 2000 will participate in the competition.
3. Will various groups of participants be
accepted for registration if they're all coming from the same university?
Yes. The participation in the competition is open to all individual students or
groups of students with a maximum of 5 members. Every individual student or
group has to register seperatly.
4. Is there further information available,
that is not provided on the internet or the printed version (= blue poster)?
No. We do not want to limit the designer with too much information. Therefore -
and because the competition is international -, everybody should have the same
information available in order to have an equal chance.
5. Are there Floorplans to the existing
buildings KI and KII?
Yes. You can download this plan from our website.
6. The plans...
You can enter any kind of plan - depending on your own concept and design. The
plans can be with a hard back, paper or on tracing paper or..... Just the number
is limited to four plans and the size is limited to 59,4 cm / 84,0 cm. Note that
the cost of shipping might be less, when you send the plans "rolled"
and not "flat".
7. Will the pavilion be build?
No. It is currently not intended to build this year's prize-winning pavillon.
The competition is to be seen as a thought-provoking idea for the university and
the public.
8. Where should the pavilion be located?
The entire area and space between the KI and KII can be used. The exact location
depends on the personal preference of the designer.
9. Where can I find information on the
previous competitions "Stuttgart Pavillon"?
You can find information on our website and in printed catalogues. These can be
ordered on our webpages. The catalogue of 1999 is currently not available any
more!
10. Will there be a catalogue of the
competition 2000?
We are currently planning to print a catalogue with all the winning designs. It
will be available for purchasing on our website a few weeks after the
competition.
11. What does temporary and transportable
mean?
Just how temporary and transportable should the pavilion be? The answer can be
found in the individual design of every participant. Depending on the concept,
temporary could imply limited use for a certain time of the year, an unusual
structural concept or more of an experimental approach to the whole pavilion.
Along the same line, "transportable" can be interpreted according to
the concept.
12. wanted:
If you heard and read about the competition in a magazine, please send a brief

13. How can I register?

14. How many participants?
We cannot tell at this moment just how many students have registered. But we
have received registrations from 40 countries. We wish everybody good luck for
their entry.
